Sold in 2012, this historic building at 1171 Dean Street in landmarked Crown Heights North was acquired by Steering House Development as a short sale in 2008. It was an occupied SRO that we converted to it’s current three family configuration. The historic details including the facade, original floors, plaster mouldings and fireplaces were restored to their original 1890’s condition. Inspired by the original architect’s vision, a similar attention to detail was put to use in recreating features that had been lost to history. All plumbing and mechanicals were upgraded and the needs of a modern family were met with the addition of a kitchen located at the heart of the home, a rear deck with garden access off of the parlor floor accessible via a newly created glass back wall, new bathrooms and discretely placed central air conditioning.
