Heat and HVAC are going in at our Carroll Gardens project. The house will be heated via a three-zone radiant heat system and cooled with a four-zone central air conditioning system. The parlor floor will have a supplementary forced hot air option for added comfort.

The scaffolding is up and the historic facade restoration is underway at our Crown Heights development project. The scope of work includes stripping all the paint, repointing, restoring the slate roof, patching the terra-cotta on the first two floors and adding a new brownstone stoop. Stay tuned for the reveal in a few weeks.

With the asbestos removed from the roof we began setting up the steel frame for the roof deck and delivered the A/C condenser via crane. Click through for all the pictures.

A big focus of the Carroll Gardens job is sustainable design and development. Much of the original building material is being reused in the new home including these old floor boards. We’re milling them down and will be using them on the ceiling of the office/mezzanine in a few short months.

In preparation for the new bulkhead, skylight and roof deck installation at our Park Slope project we removed the asbestos from the roof. Check out the pictures.

This week we installed the moment frame in our Carroll Gardens project. There was a lot of heavy lifting involved but the house is now stronger than ever. Click through for pictures.  

We’ve been replacing the old wood floor joists on the parlor floor with heavy-gage metal joists this week in preparation for the finished concrete floor we’ll be pouring down the road. The old joists can’t carry the 40,000 lbs of concrete so we’ll be reusing them elsewhere in the house for bookshelves, stair treads, etc… […]

It’s been an active month for us on the Carroll Gardens project. Foundation and structural work was completed for the horizontal and vertical extensions and both are beginning to rise! Click through for pictures.
